Project Notes:
From Ghana's Streets to Berlin's Basketball Court
Fundraiser created few hours ago
Andy Jude Edzie is the organizer of this fundraiser.
My name is Andy Jude Edzie, and I am the founder and head coach of Basketball Unite Academy (BUA), a community-based organization in Ghana dedicated to empowering young people through basketball. Our mission is to provide a safe, structured environment for children and teenagers, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, keeping them engaged in positive activities and away from the risks of drugs, gangs, and violence.
At BUA, we focus not only on teaching basketball skills but also on fostering life skills such as discipline, teamwork, leadership, and perseverance. Over the years, we have worked with dozens of youth, providing mentorship, training sessions, and community tournaments.
I remember the first time I saw them, those eager faces lit up by
dreams as bright and far-reaching as the stars themselves. They were
just kids playing pickup games in a dusty court under the relentless sun
of Tema. But there was something different about these children, a
spark that couldn’t be ignored, a fire that whispered of potential
beyond their harsh realities.
Meet Basketball Unite Academy (BUA) U13, a group of young talents from less privileged homes in Ghana. These kids have been invited by BC Lions Moabit in Germany to participate in the International Eastercup Moabit 2026, an annual exchange program that could change their lives forever.
But here’s where it gets tough: for many of these children, even a passport costs are prohibitively expensive barriers they can't overcome alone. That’s why we need your help to ensure that the dream doesn't end before it begins just because kids from disadvantaged backgrounds don't have enough to fly across continents and compete on an international level.
We’re raising funds for their Visa fees and flight tickets, which total up to €15,000. Every little bit helps. It might not be much in the grand scheme of things, but it could mean everything to these kids. This trip isn't just another game; it’s a gateway into an experience that teaches resilience and teamwork, skills they can carry back home with them.
“Every child deserves a chance at opportunity,” says Coach Andy, one of BUA’s dedicated coaches. “This tournament could be the turning point in their lives. It would mean so much to these kids if you help us get there."
Imagine being part of history-making moments for Ghanaian children who've never even seen snow. Imagine helping them defy stereotypes, not just as athletes but as future leaders and champions of change in our communities back home. That’s what this is about inspiring hope and possibilities one slam dunk at a time.
Let’s make it happen together. Let’s show these kids that dreams have no borders, only pathways forged by support like ours. Click the link in bio to donate or share their stories today! 📲❤️ #BasketballUniteAcademy #EmpoweringYouth
